But yes.....another Jillian Update here!!!

Are you tired of hearing about her cough? Well, we are tired of hearing it....Back to the doctor tonight and George went with me. Just to hear what I hear, have his input, etc. The doctor listened, lungs seem clear but wants to get a chest X-Ray. Also, she is on prednisolone and a neubulizer and being treated for Bronchial Asthmatic symptoms...WTF??? Never heard of that whole thing...But we will see...tomorrow I will do the chest X-Ray, while George takes Elizabeth to the dentist.....I'm sure there will be more to come...She's sleeping now, even after the Albuterol....

My spelling is horrific tonight.....

You know it's funny you said that whole thing about the bronchial asthma. That's basically what my doctor told me I have after going through a solid 8 weeks of cough. Chest x-rays showed clear. Antibiotics didn't do anything. I did have stuff coming up at times (I know TMI!) too. Not pneumonia. No other "sick" symptoms. She told me it was one of two things: A.) Acid Reflux - who knew that can cause a bad cough even if you don't have any burning or bile taste, etc. or B.) Bronchial asthma symptoms. She prescribed both albuterol inhaler for me & Prevacid. She said within two weeks I'd know - if it was the acid reflux the symptoms would be 100% gone and if not, it was the asthma thing. Well 12 days into it the side effects from the Prevacid were horrible & I didn't have relief so I ditched the Prevacid and it's slowly gotten better with the inhaler as needed. So very LONG comment but mainly to say I'm another "wierdo" who seems to have something like the doc said Jilly may have!

I remember you having something now that you mentioned it...I am not sure if I read it on your blog or when I was still part of BAM, but I remember something...

We just had a terrible scare with her...It's so hard when it appears you little one can't catch their breathe...I have a call into Dr. Champoux now...

Just out of curiosity, have you ever thought of having her tested for allergies? Shawn had allergy symptoms for two years (cough and congestion with occasional runny nose) and then we found out he was allergic to peanuts. I never knew a food allergy could cause that. I'm thinking about having him tested now.

Emily went through a bit of this when she was around Jilly's age. She had to use the inhaler and take steroids for a while. Her doctor at the time told me that he wasn't going to officially diagnose her with asthma (this was long before my own diagnosis) because she could very well grow out of it. And she did, thankfully. Emily went through two different really bad episodes, but nothing for the past 6+ years. (Knock on wood.)

Oh, and Andrea, acid reflux and ashtma are related. If I start to have acid problems, my asthma starts acting up, too. I always forget about it until my doctor asks me if I've been having acid problems along with my increased asthma symptoms.

Karen, I have considered allergies...But Jillian has been through so much in the last 2 years alone, never mind since birth, that I really do not want to put her through all the allergy testing yet. We did Elizabeth last year and she came up with no allergies and I know that we will need to do Jillian, but Jillian is a bit younger than Elizabeth was. Jillian WOULD NEVER sit for that yet...But that is very much on my mind.

Melodie, I am hoping that this is just a fluke thing or something she will outgrow if this is what she has. Either way, I know we will deal with it with her, but its so hard for her age. She will not cooperate with an inhaler...I spoke to our doctor last night about 9:30. Jillian had another coughing bout where she really could not breathe. She just couldn't catch her breath and when I turned the neubulizer on, she fought that too. We finally had her settled down and gave her a treatment, basically as she started going to sleep. I was going to do the X-Ray later after school today, but decided to go shortly after they open. Any extra time to get results is a plus....(That's if everyone cooperates and gets the results to the doctor's and they call promptly)...I do not want to deal with what we did with George....I'm sure to keep all posted...Thanks for everyone's help. Its nice to know that even though I am not with BAM anymore, we made contact and you guys are helping me through this!!! Kisses to all of you!

I'm hoping you got the x-ray ok today & you get some answers! As a side note, the whole brochial asthma thing with me just happened this summer.
