Monday night, we did the prescription given to us on Elizabeth's hair. She seemed much better yesterday, but still a few annoying little ones around. Last night we needed to coat her head with mayonnaise...REAL mayonnaise...no fat free, low fat, olive oil, whatever, but real mayo. She was a great sport about it considering she is not a mayo person. Here is a picture of her...Looks like she's having a conditioning done...
She took it all in stride and even joined in the humor of having this in her hair....Keep your fingers crossed...Once she gets up, I'll wash her hair and check later...The doctor told me that the Mayo suffocates them and the eggs. PLUS a little unknown fact to me, lice HATE dirt...Here I grew up thinking that dirt attracted them....

I hope the "mayo" treatment works! That is good to know - I didn't know about mayo. What a good sport she is - she seems to have a happy attitude in that picture at least! Keeping our fingers crossed for you!
Another good home remedy is margarine. You basically do the same thing with it that you did with the mayonaise and it works the same way by suffocationg the bugs and eggs.
Sarah had a bad case of head lice in second grade and since you can't use the lice medication more than once a week, we had to do the home remedies in between.
We finally got rid of all of the bugs and she was lice-free for all of Spring Break, but got them back as soon as she returned to school. It turned out that the little girl who she sat next to in class had them really bad and every day that Sarah went to school she get them again.
I've also been told that Avon's Skin-So-Soft does a great job off killing them. A friend told me that she literally saw them jumping off of a little girl when it was sprayed into her hair.
