My Sister

I just think that this deserved a separate post...My sister forgot Elizabeth's birthday....again...The first time was when she turned 2 and now this year....What's up with that....? Not looking for a gift or anything....just a simple call...My nieces usually make a card and send it, obviously with my sister's help...My nieces are 11 and 9.....

I know that this is wrong, but I always remember my nieces....When they were younger, I just would send them something, even a note, for no reason...It seems that when I had my girls, they just did not matter to her....Andrea, if you read this, you'll remember and won't be surprised on how I feel about this...Oh well.....I'm not going to get myself upset about it...I have a nice life and a happy life with my family.....Just needed to vent!!!

My father forgot my birthday a few years ago. I figured he'd call the next day and apologize for forgetting, but he didn't. He didn't remember that my birthday had passed until he saw me at Thanksgiving (my birthday is within the week before Thanksgiving).
The year before my last birthday, my Aunt, who never forgets my birthday, completely forgot all about it. Of course, I found out that she had been dealing with some family issues at the time (my cousin announced that she was getting divorced and needed the money to pay for it and my uncle was diagnosed with a terrible medical condition) and she was very apologetic about it.
It can hurt when the people you think care about you forget something like your birthday. Hopefully, it didn't phase Elizabeth. As long as you make her feel super-special, she won't need to worry about who isn't.

Debbie... I know exactly how you feel. My brother has never acknowledged Olivia's birthday and I have bent over backwards for his boys for nearly 18 years now. I have never not once missed a birthday of theirs. She doesn't get a christmas present from him either. She seems to be the forgotten child on both sides of the family. Thank goodness for the grandparents. It bothers me a great deal because I have remembered all my nieces and nephews, and only get a thank you from 2 of them. You're not alone.

Unfortunately I know the feeling. I just hope your girls don't pick up on it yet. It's a shame for the kids.
